Thought Pollution

We are aware of noise, water and air pollution. There is also thought pollution on this earth.

Thought pollution is defined as contamination of inner peace by negative thoughts.

Thinking is an important tool for human beings. We think, so we can solve our problems. When we start creating problems in our head, thoughts become problems.

Our thoughts have frequencies to attract similar thoughts. E.g. when we think inspiring thoughts, our next thoughts will also be inspiring, unless this frequency gets interrupted by a different thought e.g. an insult by your boss.

Once our thought gets contaminated by a negative thought, similar thoughts will get attracted.
When we fall asleep, we do not think. Our brains are working but we do not think. If we sleep for 7-8 hours, we wake up refreshed. This is the best time to think positive thoughts because we get to start a new string of thoughts.

Start your day with appreciation for life. You will think similar thoughts throughout your day.
When this string gets interrupted by an outside negative thought, start appreciating again. Appreciation is the best way to keep the mind clear of negative thinking.

This is not a onetime process. Just as we clean our bodies every day, we must clean our minds every day.

A dusty piece of jewelry is still jewelry. Crumbled money does not lose its value, we simply straighten it out. It is the same with mind. When our minds are clean and clear, we can see its beauty. We become aware of its magnificence.

We can change our thought patterns by shifting to one powerful thought. It can be from within e.g. a positive self-talk or from outside e.g. a compliment from a friend. You do not want to be dependent on outside force. To shift your thought, practice going within. You are not limiting yourself but tapping into an infinite force. By going within, you are approaching the whole Universe.

This newsletter is intended to start a positive thought string in the morning. I hope your every day is filled with laughter and joy.

Remember: only when clouds disappear, we can see the beautiful stars :-)

Constant Complainer...Don't be that

It is completely OK to complain about things that make you uncomfortable.

But do you complain about everything or only things that make you uncomfortable?

Unfortunately, for a lot of us complaining is simply a habit than a necessity.

When we are young everything is new and we are eager to absorb it all. In adulthood, we get used to things. We avoid new things because they seem “difficult”, when in fact only by cracking “difficult” we can move forward in life. That is the only way a child can learn new things.

In many cases, we have no other choice but to take on the task on hand, no matter how difficult, and solve it. All children do just that. Only difference is that they don’t complain, they do what they have to do without complaining too much. Adults on the other hand, almost always complain more and focus less on the real task.

Again, it is completely OK to complain about things that make you uncomfortable but it is not OK to complain about most of the things.

Complaining attracts more things to complain about. If we stop complaining about small unfortunate incidents we will avoid big unfortunate incidents. Everything we experience is a reflection of how we are feeling.

When a small thing goes wrong, acknowledge it and appreciate it as it has warned you to immediately shift your consciousness or pattern of thinking towards gratitude. Feeling gratitude for small things will bring you more to be grateful for.

Stay away from people who complain a lot. They are like perpetrators who want you to feel sorry for them. They don’t want solution; they simply want your attention.

Know how to differentiate between a genuine complain as opposed to a plea for attention.

A genuine complaint comes out of a specific situation. It makes someone feel uncomfortable because it is out of norm.

A person who complains constantly about everything never feels uncomfortable about what he or she went through because it is not out of norm, it is something that they always feel. It is out of a habit, not out of a situation.

Be a sympathetic ear to those who have genuine complaints. Sometimes all they need is a good listener so that they can get it off their chest.

However, stay away from constant complainers. They will get you into the same bad habit. Make some excuses to avoid them. Shift your focus towards gratitude and love to attract happy people.

Remember that every moment in your life is too precious to please others. Live your life to the fullest. If you don’t like something change it, if you can’t change it then accept it and get over it.
Love yourself regardless of a situation. Situations go and come, love is forever…

6 ways to attract Happiness NOW

1.     Forgive: It is easier said than done but it has to be done. When we forgive, we release ourselves from the past. We let go of what could be and focus on what can be. If it is very hard to forgive then think of a time when you sincerely apologized to someone, did you hope that they would forgive? Imagine forgiving yourself at that moment. If you can be easy on yourself, you can be easy on others. Happiness is more important than holding grudges.

2.     Be grateful: Grateful for what you have brings you more things to be grateful for. It is the attitude that makes you humble and receptive of generosity of this Universe. Everyday count 5 new things to be grateful for and see the difference in your daily mood. Do this the first thing in the morning and set the positive tone for the day. When things get really tough, don’t forget to be grateful for your health, family, home, love or whatever things that you take for granted such as your bed, shower, pillow, phone, bathroom, fan, comb, toothbrush, literally anything, anything will do. Be happy for small things and big things will appear.

3.   Stop regretting: No matter how bad your decision was, there is nothing you can do to change it now. Stop regretting things that you did in the past. This relates to forgiving. Forgive your past. Easiest way to stop regretting is focusing on the present moment. If you could make a fresh start, wouldn’t you? Nobody is stopping you. In fact, starting it again is only admirable. Focusing on present is no easy task but that is why we meditate. Meditate at least 5 minutes a day. You can even meditate in a  or bus, just not in the car while driving .  Here is a 5 minute meditation practice: Close your eyes, and breathe deeply. If you are not home then you may not want to breathe deeply but normal breathing can be good enough too. Breathe once and count 1, breathe second time and count 2, continue until you reach the number 10. Once you reach the number 10, cross one finger and repeat the process until your 5 fingers are crossed. There you have it, a quick meditation. You can repeat the process for 2-3 times. Once finished, gently open your eyes. It is easy and can be done anywhere.

4.     Be nice: I have heard many times that people take advantage of your niceness so you need to step up your game and be a b*tch. Oh, only if you knew that karma is a real b*tch and nothing gets unnoticed –small or big. We are all individuals and were raised in different environments so it is obvious that we will not get along with everyone. But that does not mean you need to mean to other people.

Be nice to your enemies. Some people might be jealous of you or resent you for whatever reason, you cannot feel the same way about them. Even when you know that someone do not have good intentions for you, be nice to them. That is your greatest strength. Let karma take care of them and you take control of your own life. If you believe in Law of Attraction then by being nice you will keep attracting nice people. Even if you attract mean people once in a while, practice being nice to them and you will soon open up many doors.
Be nice to strangers. When you see elders or pregnant women, offer your seat. Put a quarter in an expired meter, smile to a fellow commuter, let a hurried driver go before your, let someone go first before your turn, give a penny or two to the person who is standing before you in the checkout register, give a sincere compliment. There are many ways to give and even more ways to receive back. Feel the magic of giving something without any expectations – ah, that moment is the best of all.
Be nice to yourself. You can never have compassion for others without having compassion for yourself. Be nice to yourself. If you spill the milk, you are not a complete idiot, you just had an accident and it is fixable. If you missed the train, you were not walking or driving too slow, you just missed a train, there is nothing else about it. If you made a mistake at work, you are not the first and you won’t be the last.

5.   Be yourself, be vulnerable: It hurts to be vulnerable, but being vulnerable is being you. You are taking a risk that someone will hurt you but you are also opening up universe’s channel that people will accept you for who you are. If we don’t want to get hurt then we should never go out because where else is safest than being home, in our bed, comfortable. However, staying home does not bring anything new and you certainly cannot find the fun and happiness that other people bring to you. Yes, it can mean that they may hurt you but it’s better to get hurt in search of fun than being lonely. I promise you that when you are ready to be yourself, you will attract those who love you for who you are. Your truth is more beautiful than you can imagine.
6.   Stop judging: Unless you are judge in an actual court please do not take responsibility of such a big task. It is normal to evaluate other people but making assumptions about them creates wall that doesn’t really exist. Wearing short skirt does not make anyone a slut and a being shy does not make anyone a dumb person. People can be insecure, just like you. Give them a chance to do or be what they want and accept them for who they are. Nobody talks behind you. If they do, it only means that you are worth talking about, take no offense for that. Judging stops you from being happy because you are too busy to find reasons to be sad about something.

Being Positive or Being Realistic?

I often receive remarks that I am too positive. As much as I would like to take it as a compliment, I know happy people can be annoying to people who are not so happy.
So am I really a positive person? The answer is yes because I have found out that this is the only realistic way to live a peaceful life.

We go through the day with too much drama and baggage. This person did not do this or he or she did this to me. He is so mean. She is a bitch. Customer service at some store sucks. Trains are too late.

I understand things happen and we feel aggravated. It is normal. What’s not normal is to stay stuck in negative emotions. We must move on after every experience. Life is ever changing, nothing is steady. When you stay stuck, you stink - like stagnated water. Only flowing water tastes good.

Let’s say you made a mistake in your exam or at your work. Now you can either fix it or keep feeling negative about what just happened. I know that you cannot fix your mistake in the exam, but you can learn from it. You can try to understand what went wrong and fix it to get a better score in your final. If you choose to be sad about the mistake you made but never really move on to study harder, you are not a happy person. But if you said, “I am going to get it right next time” then you are one happy camper – a positive person.

If you know that your colleague made a mistake on something obvious then you can either humiliate him or her or just try to correct the error, really find the solution. If you keep blaming him or her you will only add insult to injury, nothing else. He or she will feel miserable. You will burn your blood and what else, oh yes, get some wrinkles due to the frowns; let’s hope it’s not increased blood pressure due to the stress.

If you decided not to stay happy or have hope for the future, what do you gain? Nothing. You will keep feeling miserable and will not enjoy what you have in front of you. You might miss the easy solutions. You will keep frowning and become very wrinkly ;) Your body cells will feel resentment and your face might become crooked. Your body will produce stress hormone (Cortisole) which will bring stubborn fat in your belly.

The alternative is to be realistic. Acknowledge what happened is gone and there is nothing, by nothing I mean absolutely nothing that can be done to fix the past. If you keep dwelling on the past you are being unrealistic.

Being realistic is to have some hope. Know that past is over and gone and so has its power. You have the power of NOW. Start changing things now ,before it becomes past. And what will that bring? Hmm… it will bring you solutions to so called problems, beautiful face, more creativity, longer healthy life, peace in your mind.

As my philosophy goes, feel the negative emotions but don't stay stuck in them. As a human being you will go through anger, guilt, sadness, depression etc. Key is to understand that these emotions are your guidelines to know that you must change the course of your actions. If something makes you sad, simply stop doing that.

In a nutshell, there is no other way to live a peaceful life than being positive. If we keep thinking about past (or even future) and be miserable, we will stay miserable because past cannot be changed; there are no time machines so far. If we change our perspective to positive, no matter what the situation is we will be peaceful, calm and happy.

Don’t be too harsh on yourself no matter what. If you miss a train today, affirm that next train is coming soon. If you catch the train, affirm that you will get a seat soon.

Be positive, it’s the only way to be realistic.

What if you could see through the truck?

On Saturday I went to my great friend’s amazing house. When I was walking to the train station I was afraid that I will miss the only train that could take me there. I was walking in fast pace and all of a sudden the red hand stopped me – NYC traffic light.

I was in rush and I wanted to cross the street but I could not see if the cars were pulling in. There was a big red Coca-Cola truck parked on the street. It was hard to see beyond this fat truck.

But I decided to take risk and slowly came forward to see if cars were coming. Sure enough there was no car coming, perfect time to cross the street without having the walk signal.

I have crossed the street hundreds of times without having a walk signal. This time it was tough because of the truck, I was unable to see through it.

I thought what if the truck was only my imagination? Let’s say that the truck represents our fear and doubts in life. If our fears and doubts are so big that we cannot see beyond them we will never take the first step to cross the street- to reach our dreams. We will be scared that anything can come from the other side, let’s just wait for the walk signal. But what if walk sign in life never comes. Will we be stuck on this side of the street? Unfortunately many people may think that at least it’s safe here and never take the first step.

Friends, I know it is hard to let go of the fears and doubts. It’s completely natural. In fact, our very survival depends on it. What if the cars were in fact coming, I could have lost my life in the rush.

There is nothing wrong in being fearful and seeking safety. My point however is that even though there is fear; take the first step in the present moment.

Let your mind know that in the unknown territory, you can discover opportunities to live your dreams. Welcome your doubts, explain them that “I know this is the first time I will be doing this, but I would like to at least try it” and take that first step.

Tomorrow, tell someone you love them, even though there may not be reciprocal. The friend who keeps insulting you, tell him that you need to set up boundaries. Tell your boss how much you appreciate his efforts and thank him (even though he will think you are acting crazy). Tell your neighbor to shut his dog. Say thank you to the police officer. Try at least one new thing- any new thing or look at something in a new way. Eat ice cream as if it’s a vegetable and eat vegetable as if its ice cream.

Small changes form habits. I have suggested small things but soon you will start seeing beyond the big truck of fear and doubt and start taking steps towards the pathway success!!

Affirmation for releasing fear and doubt:
Everything I touch is a success
New pathways are opening up for me
I am safe wherever I go
I accept new ways and new perspectives in life
I can see everything clearly

Being Perferct, Being Impossible

We all make mistakes, we are humans and we are bound to make mistakes. One day, I kept count of my reactions to others when they made mistakes. At my work, I discovered that there was an error that could be avoided and I criticized my coworkers. When I was coming home, the trains were not on schedule and I criticized MTA. When I was walking home from the train station, I saw that people were not walking fast enough and I criticized them. I came home and saw that my dad had not put away the recycling and I criticized him. So who am I to criticize others, miss perfect?

Far from it. The person I criticize most is me. I try my best to minimize errors so as to be the best employee. I was working on something and then all of a sudden thought of something that I was doing before and my heart sank. I thought I had made a big error. I rechecked my work and thanks god, I had not made the error. But when I recovered from the feeling of criticism, I thought why I feel so negative about making mistakes.

I don’t remember what happened in my childhood; perhaps I was criticized for making mistakes. Somehow I have developed a habit of criticizing, others as well as myself. If I do not accept myself even after making mistakes how can I accept others. This is resentment. I want to live in pure love and not in resentment.

I feel too much pressure to be perfect. I have decided to release the need to be perfect. It is impossible to be perfect. Instead I will try to do my best.

You see, if I become perfect then there will be no evolution, no going forward, no new ideas. If everybody becomes perfect the way I want them to be then there will nothing different; no new ways. Since it is impossible to control others anyway, I have decided to accept others just the way they are. It means no more criticizing others. If someone makes a mistake, its fixable, no worries, no sweat :)

If I make a mistake, its fixable, no worries, no sweat :) I feel so much lighter by using this strategy.

If you think that others are making too many mistakes and you criticize people more than you appreciate them, go within. See where is it that you are criticizing yourself. If you keep track you will be surprised to see how many times you are criticizing yourself. When you say, “ah, I am so stupid”, “what the hell was I thinking”, “I hate myself for doing this”, then you are criticizing yourself. Every time you make a mistake, say to yourself, it’s fixable. When you respect yourself, you can respect others.

Your inner subconscious beliefs reflect your outer experiences.

When you love and accept yourself, you love and accept others. This is pure love and joy.

Criticizing feels heavy and dark. Let it go. Feel lighter. Laugh at mistakes, learn and move on.

Affirmations: I love and accept myself and others with pure love.
I release the need and habit to criticize myself as we as others.
